JHR called for every effort to be made to safeguard Journalists around the world.

Mourns the tragic loss of life of 40 journalists and media workers and so many civilians in the Middle East and are gravely concerned by the escalating humanitarian crisis that is causing widespread suffering,  today said Journalists for Human Rights (JHR).

40 journalists and media workers were confirmed dead in Gaza,CPJ said.

“When the number of journalists killed gets high, the individual tragedy of each life is often lost. 40 journalists are dead. 40 people who had families that loved them. 40 people lost their lives simply by doing their jobs”, JHR said .

JHR remains concerned about the safety of journalists in the Middle East and those covering conflicts in Europe and Africa. JHR denounced the violence against innocent civilians, supports upholding international humanitarian law and called for every effort to be made to safeguard Journalists around the world.

“The 261 journalists who were murdered for their work worldwide between September 1, 2013, and August 31, 2023, and make up part of the nearly 80% of those cases where no perpetrators have been successfully prosecuted”, 1 Nov CPJ said.

On the International Day to End Impunity, CPJ called for accountability in all cases of journalists killed for job.
