Amnesty International: Two prisoners supporting girls’ education by the Taliban group should be released unconditionally

In a letter, Amnesty International has requested the immediate and unconditional release of two prisoners supporting the education of girls from the Taliban group.

In an open letter to Abdul Haq Vashiq, the head of Taliban intelligence, Amnesty International demanded the release of two girls’ education rights activists from this group.

In its letter, this international body named Ahmad Fahim Azimi and Sediqullah Afghan and their detention is against international human rights laws, a clear violation of the right to freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly and access to a fair court, which is guaranteed by international law.

According to Amnesty International, these two education rights activists were working with “Fekr Behter” organization and were arrested on October 17, 2023 by Taliban intelligence from “Karte e 4” area of Kabul city.

Based on this letter, Ahmad Fahim and Siddiqullah were tried by the Taliban court on December 27 and were transferred to Polcharkhi prison.

In this open letter, this international organization has asked the Taliban group to remove restrictions on the education of women and girls.

But; The Taliban group has not yet said anything about this letter.

At the same time, Roya Mahboob, the leader of the Afghan girls’ robot-making team, said after the arrest of these two education activists, that the Taliban and a number of DCF colleagues accused this team of “helping the girls of the robot-making team leave” and “organizing protests”. have been arrested.
