United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has stressed that providing refuge to those in danger is more than a tradition — it is a moral and practical necessity.

In a post on X on Sunday, November 16, Guterres called on countries worldwide to uphold the right to seek asylum, accept shared responsibility for protecting refugees, strengthen the inclusion of refugees in societies, and provide durable solutions for them.

The UN chief also urged greater political will to resolve conflicts and humanitarian crises.

According to Guterres, without serious action from the international community, millions of refugees around the world will continue to face grave risks.
