A number of journalists and organizations supporting journalists say that the new law of the Taliban group increases media restrictions.
In response to the Taliban’s new law, the Afghan Journalists Center has said that the severe restrictions imposed by this group on the media are a continuation of the suppression of free media in Afghanistan.
This center has emphasized that these restrictions are against the country’s public media law and are in conflict with it.
According to this center, the Taliban group has accepted the country’s mass media law; But only a part of it is used “selectively”.
In a newsletter of this center, it is stated: “In this law, there are clear and vague restrictions that can affect the work of the media and journalists, especially female journalists.”
In the 17th article of the Law of Enjoining the Good and Prohibiting the Evil of the Taliban, it is stated that an auditor must oblige media officials to publish content that is not against religion and Sharia, does not contain insults and humiliation of Muslims, and does not contain pictures of the dead. .
The Center of Afghan Journalists has said that this issue is ambiguous and it may be interpreted differently and cause suppression of the media and independent journalists.
This center has considered another paragraph of this article of the Taliban law, in which the publication of materials containing pictures of the dead, is prohibited, as the latest clear instructions of the Taliban regarding the media.
The Center of Afghan Journalists added: “Previously, during the last three years of the Taliban, at least 17 directives were issued in relation to journalists and media, which greatly restricted the freedom of media and journalists, especially women.”
This center also pointed out other issues such as the prohibition of the misuse of audio recorders, radios, women’s voices not leaving the house, and the use of Ties and said that the contents of these items are also unclear; But they have been punished.
The Center of Afghan Journalists has said that it is seriously concerned about the clear and ambiguous restrictions raised in the Law on Prohibition of Prosperity and Prohibition of Prosperity on the work of media and journalists in the country.
The Center of Afghan Journalists warned against the tightening of restrictions on the media and its negative consequences on the society and asked the Taliban to reconsider their dealings with the media and allow journalists and media in Afghanistan to enjoy their fundamental rights in accordance with the media law.
On the other hand, the leader of the Taliban group has ordered in his new order that after this no one can comment on the address of the Taliban except for the central spokespersons and the ministries of this group.
The Bakhtar news agency under the Taliban administration has quoted this order and reported that the central spokespersons and offices of this group should only publish statements approved by the leader of this group regarding political issues.
According to the report, the central spokespersons of the Taliban should refrain from publishing things that have not been approved by the leader of this group.
Also, in this order, the activities of the spokespersons of the Taliban ministries are limited only to their respective departments.
According to this decree, they will make the information public after the approval of the minister or the head of the relevant department of this group.
In this regard, a number of journalists in a conversation with the reporter of The Peace Window say that these instructions of the Taliban group will slow down the information process in Afghanistan.
Afghan Gol Ahmadzai, one of the journalists in Kabul, says in this conversation that he faces many problems while preparing reports and government institutions do not provide them with information as soon as possible.
Ms. Ahmadzai added that with the ratification of the new law of the Taliban group, women journalists will face many problems and there is a possibility of removing women from the media.
Shakiba Nazari, another journalist in Kabul, says that currently journalists, especially female journalists, are facing many problems, including lack of access to information.
Mrs. Nazari emphasized that with the implementation of the new law of the Taliban group on the media, it will increase the media restrictions.
By warning about the negative consequences of these restrictions on the media, these journalists emphasized that the Taliban should reconsider their policies towards the media.
However, a number of international organizations, embassies, political and cultural figures and human rights activists condemned this Taliban law and said that this law is an insult to the human dignity of Afghan citizens.
This is despite the fact that the law of enjoining the good and prohibiting the evil of the Taliban has been approved by Hebatullah Akhundzadeh in 1 introduction, 4 chapters and 35 articles. This law calls women’s body, face and voice “women” and emphasizes that even reading naats and recitations by women is not allowed and their voices should not be heard anywhere. According to this law, it is forbidden to see live photos and videos on phones, computers and any other device. According to this law of the Taliban, men are obliged to grow a beard and avoid tying the knot and cutting their hair in the western style.
It has been said in the law of the Taliban that it is forbidden to transport women without Muharram by drivers. In this law, all games and entertainments, including tashlebazai and four-brained game, are prohibited and forbidden. According to this law, all merchants, businessmen and farmers have to pay zakat and tithe to this group in addition to paying taxes. The use of statues of living objects in advertisements is prohibited and the officials of this group are authorized to imprison people from 1 hour to 3 days.
