The UNAMA and the International Organization for Migration have examined the issue of officialization of the Taliban group from the perspective of women in a new report.
Coinciding with World Radio Day, a number of female journalists and employees of Afghan radios criticized the Taliban's strict restrictions on the media and said that it is forbidden to broadcast the voices of female journalists on the radios.
Afghanistan is facing a convergence of challenges, including a deteriorating human rights situation due to the Taliban's repressive policies and practices, a culture of impunity, an ongoing humanitarian and economic crisis, recent deadly earthquakes, and the possibility of massive involuntary returns, all of which require urgent action to avoid further suffering and potential instability in the country and the region, a UN expert said today.
The United Nations Organization for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid or OCHA, by publishing a new report, said that due to the earthquakes in western Afghanistan, 114 thousand people are in need of help and 93 million dollars are needed to support them.
Soraya is one of the victims of the recent earthquakes in Herat province, who lost her four daughters under the debris.
Five days have passed since the powerful earthquake in western Afghanistan, the people of Herat province are still afraid of the next earthquakes and have left their homes and spend the cold autumn nights in the open air next to the streets.
