UNAMA: Violence against Hazara has increased in Afghanistan

The Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says that Afghanistan has seen an increase in violence against Shia Hazara community in the past month.

The office of the United Nations Deputy Mission in Afghanistan has written on its X page today (Monday, 13th of December) that in the past month, Afghanistan has seen an increase in violence against the Hazara people (Shiites).

UNAMA said that these violence’s took place in Kabul, Baghlan and Herat provinces.

The office expressed sympathy for the victims and called for an investigation, accountability for the perpetrators and increased support for those at risk.

This is despite the fact that last Friday (December 1th), unknown gunmen shot at the occupants of a “three-wheeler” at around 3:00 a.m. in the “Meli Furnace” area of ​​Jibril town located in the 13th district of Herat city.

As a result of this shooting, two Shiite religious scholars and four women were killed and three others were injured. But no group has taken responsibility for this incident.

And on 21 October, a deadly explosion occurred in a mosque belonging to the Hazara people in Baghlan province, as a result of which 30 people were killed and 40 others were injured.
